Although there are challenges to accessing and adopting high-speed Internet, including cost, it’s important to understand that the benefits outweigh the cost. Many employment applications are online; educational instruction and assignments are not only conducted in the classroom but online as well. The convenience of online bill pay, shopping, and even reading the news is becoming the norm.

Consider this list of additional reasons from Yahoo! for having not only Internet but also high-speed Internet in your home:

1.You stream television shows and movies

If you’ve decided to cancel your cable in order to stream shows and movies online, you would want your experience to be just as normal as if you were watching traditional TV…without the pauses and “buffering” message.

2.You work from home

Utilization of email, web surfing, video conferencing, and other higher-demand applications as a telecommuter all takes place at one time or another and with faster speeds, it’s almost as if you were in a traditional office.

3.More than four people in your family use the Internet, and at the same time

Homework assignments for the older kids, the Disney channel for the younger ones, and submitting expense reports from the home office for you and all at the same time seemingly requires high-speed internet so there are no interruptions.

4.You’re in a long distance relationship

Faster Internet speeds allow you to enjoy much better communication without the video dropping or being fuzzy.
