By Jennifer Cobb

Over the last few months, Connect South Carolina has been working with IT-oLogy, an IT talent and workforce development collaborative, to present “IT-oLogy Connections 2013 in partnership with Connect South Carolina” this Thursday, May 16. This event will share advances in hardware, software, infrastructure, and processes across a variety of industries and highlight efforts to increase broadband access, adoption, and use.

Confirmed presentations and speakers include James Ashley, an expert on Microsoft Kinect for Windows; Steven Naifeh, a Pulitzer Prize-winning author and modern artist; Tom Ferree, Connected Nation President/COO, to name a few. Connect South Carolina will also recognize three counties, Anderson, Saluda, and Greenwood, for their participation in the Connected Community Engagement Program as Broadband Heroes.

Morning segments will feature a variety of guest speakers, including Ashley and Naifeh, and afternoon sessions will dive deeper into best practices, success stories, and product demonstrations.

Thursday’s event also serves as the kickoff meeting for the South Carolina Broadband Advisory Committee, a network of people working together to identify and remove barriers to broadband access and identify opportunities for increased broadband applications and adoption in unserved and underserved areas of South Carolina. The South Carolina Broadband Advisory Committee also oversees all necessary duties and responsibilities to reach the goal to expand broadband technology including the application of federal funding/grants, grant compliance, mapping, and data management.

IT-oLogy Connections 2013 in partnership with Connect South Carolina” will be held on Thursday, May 16, from 9 am – 5 pm EDT at the IT-oLogy Theater located at 1301 Gervais Street, Suite 101, in Columbia, South Carolina. For more information, please contact Jim Stritzinger at [email protected] or (803) 978-1558 or Heather Jones at [email protected] or (803) 743-5851.
