If your goal is to get fit this spring season….

Here are a few gadgets and apps according to "Great gadgets, apps for getting fit this spring", that can help get you to where you want to be as the weather heats up and you swap your winter clothes for tees, tanks, and shorts:

Fitness watches, bands

o   Track time, distance, pace, heart rate, and even the number of calories you've burned; some watches and bands also track information thanks to internal sensors and wirelessly syncs the info with a nearby smartphone, tablet, or computer

Scales, monitors

o   Sure you want to keep up with the amount of weight you’re losing but there are also scales that show your BMI (body mass index), a measure of body fat based on height and weight

o   This info can be read on the scale’s bright screen and built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity means the info can also be immediately uploaded to a password-protected app or website to help you keep track of your progress

Smart pedometers, phones

o   Pedometers are now available on the market that not only counts steps, stairs, and calories burned, these devices also synchronize with a personal computer, again helping you keep track of your progress

o   Depending on the type of phone you have, some devices come with health and fitness features, monitoring and providing feedback on your fitness activity and caloric intake

Apps

o   Whether you have an iPhone or an Android, there are millions of apps that can help keep you motivated including ones that scare you into getting fit by telling you a story about zombies, figuratively having you run for your life; calculate your caloric intake and help you achieve your weight loss goals; and full-featured workout companions with hundreds of exercises, instructions, illustrations, photos, and videos.
